Q: Will an exhaust tip change the sound or add horsepower?

A: No. A tip is an end trim piece at the outlet — it does not change the internal diameter or the flow path of the exhaust, so it will not add horsepower or noticeably change the exhaust note. Sound and performance come from the muffler, the resonator or the complete cat-back system, not from the tip. What a tip does do is extend the outlet slightly past the bumper, keeping hot gas and soot off the paint and plastic trim.

Q: Which material should I choose?

A: Use 304 stainless as the mainstream choice for visible tips because it offers a good balance of corrosion resistance, appearance and cost. 316L suits the most demanding corrosion environments; 201 is an economy grade for cost-sensitive applications. Aluminised steel is a lower-cost option with good high-temperature oxidation resistance, but its corrosion protection relies mainly on the coating.

Q: How is the tip fitted — clamp-on, bolt-on or weld-on?

A: Clamp-on designs use a clamp to secure the tip without welding or permanent modification, while bolt-on designs use dedicated bolts or brackets for mechanical fastening. Weld-on creates a permanent connection and requires welding equipment or a professional workshop.

Q: How long will the tip last, and can it be removed and reused?

A: Service life depends on grade, climate and use: an aluminised or coated mild-steel part in a salt-belt region can fail within a few years, while a regularly cleaned 304 part keeps its appearance far longer. Road salt, coastal air and frequent short trips can shorten service life. Clamp-on and bolt-on tips can be removed and refitted, or moved to another vehicle, if the fasteners have not seized — anti-seize at installation makes that possible. Replace a tip that has deformed, cracked or corroded through.

Q: Can the tips be customised?

A: Yes. We support custom tips based on your drawing, sample or photo, including non-standard inlet and outlet diameters, overall lengths, outlet shapes, mounting structures and surface finishes, together with logo or embossing and packaging. If the size you need is not in the standard range, send us the measured diameter and we will confirm what we can supply and the applicable minimum quantity.
